Yom Sheini, 8 Iyyar 5778

Congregation Ohr Shalom has a vibrant adult education program attend by many members and non-members.

On Thursday afternoons during the school year, our para-rabbi, Miriam Greenwald, leads a class in Ethics.  Class members study an assigned book each year.  Last year we took on the concepts of Mussar.  In 5774,  we will be reading and discussing Becoming a Mensch, Timeless Talmudic Ethics for Everyone by Ronald Pies.  This class always promises an interesting, dynamic, no-holds-barred discussion.  This is a truly ecumenical class attended by a wide sampling of the Grand Junciton community.  Attendees contribute weekly to a tzedakah fund (pushke box) which has contributed hundreds of dollars to our local food bank.

Every Shabbat, Miriam, aided by members of our congregation, leads a Torah Study in which the parasha of the week is studied, discussed, parsed, translated, and totally picked apart and put back together again.

As the needs and interests of our congregation dictate, we also teach Torah trope, Learn Hebrew in a Day, and Intro to Judaism  classes.

Please consult the calendar page for dates and times of classes.
